Sweeth tooth? Prevent cavities with these sugar alternatives
Tip: Use a Straw
When it comes to cavity prevention, sugary, acidic sodas obviously are not a wise choice. But a study at Temple University in Philadelphia discovered that you can minimize damage to healthy teeth by sipping that soda through a straw, especially if you don’t let the straw come in contact with the teeth.
However, Dr. Ryan Love advises against using this as a green light to drink large amounts of soda due to the unwanted calories as well as the tooth decay risk.
Don’t be fooled, in addition to brushing and flossing daily, there are several ways you can prevent cavities naturally and maximize your oral health. Try these sugar alternatives next time.
Probably the worst culprit for anyone who desires healthy, cavity-free teeth, is sugar. It should be avoided like the plague. So kick that sugar addiction stat.
Bacteria attaches to your teeth and coat them in a thin film known as plaque. When you eat sugars, they reach the bacteria, which begin to chow down. They then turn the sugars into acid, which deconstructs the enamel of tooth and causes decay.
